Welcome to Cannington Health Centre

Cannington Health Centre is a modern, purpose built surgery with a comfortable waiting room, pleasant consulting rooms and ample parking.  There is access for the disabled and allocated parking.

The practice covers an area north and south of the A39 stretching from West Bridgwater to Kilve. 

We are open Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 6.30pm.  We close the surgery for lunch between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm but you are still able to telephone during the lunchtime. 

Outside Surgery Hours For urgent assistance between 6.30pm and 8.00am on a weekday, at the weekend or any time during a bank holiday, please call the Urgent Care Service on 0845 408 8000.  If you telephone the Health Centre, the answerphone message will also give you this number. You may be given advice over the phone, asked to go to a primary care treatment centre or have a home visit by a Doctor. Dispensing

We are a dispensing practice which means that if you live a mile or more from the nearest pharmacy (as the crow flies) you can get your prescribed medicine at the Health Centre.  Unfortunately, we are not permitted to sell over the counter medicines or dispense to our patients who happen to live within a mile of a pharmacy.

We run a computerised prescription and dispensing system.  If the Doctor prescribes for you during a consultation the prescription will be printed out in our dispensary.  Our trained dispensers will then make up your prescription ready for you to collect before you leave the Health Centre.

You will be asked to sign the back of the prescription and either pay for the items or state the reason for exemption from charges. Except for age exemption, we are required to see evidence of exemption every time.  If you do not have the required evidence with you, we have to mark the form to say that we have not seen the evidence for exemption.
